The internship is a full rotating year in an approved Indian hospital, covering medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, community medicine and the other required departments — the same posting structure Indian graduates go through. It is done in India after you clear the screening exam, not abroad, and it is what converts your provisional registration into permanent.
The students who move through this smoothly are the ones who prepared for the screening exam alongside their degree instead of after it. Choose an English-medium university with real clinical exposure and hospital postings from the early years, keep every transcript and certificate safely, and start FMGE or NExT preparation in your fourth or fifth year.
