Where a foreign MBBS actually leads: NEET-PG in India, PG abroad, USMLE or PLAB, and the non-clinical routes worth knowing about.
A foreign MBBS graduate has the same doors open as an Indian graduate once registered — including NEET-PG. The degree is the beginning of the career, not the whole of it, so it is worth knowing the routes before you choose where to study.
After clearing the screening exam, completing the internship and getting permanent registration, you can practise in India and you can sit NEET-PG for a postgraduate seat on the same terms as any Indian graduate. Many of our students plan for this from the start and prepare for the screening exam and NEET-PG in parallel during their final years.
A recognised MBBS also opens international pathways, each with its own licensing exam. These take planning and expense, but the degree does not close them off.
Not every graduate ends up in clinical practice, and the degree remains valuable either way — public health and hospital administration, clinical research and pharmaceuticals, medical education, health-tech and medical writing all recruit medical graduates. Knowing this early removes a lot of the fear families carry into the decision.
Not the country on the certificate. What matters is English-medium teaching you can genuinely follow, clinical exposure from the early years, and preparing for the screening exam during the degree rather than after it.
